About Biology

Biology is the study of living systems — their structure, function, origin, growth and interactions. At the pre-university level, the subject is organised into botany and zoology, covering the unity and diversity of life from the molecular and cellular level up to organisms, reproduction and ecology. Students learn how living things are built, how they work and how they relate to one another and to their environment.

The PU Biology course combines a theory component with a laboratory programme. Theory develops the conceptual framework of cell biology, genetics, physiology, reproduction and ecology.
