Statistics is the discipline that turns data into understanding. At the pre-university level, it introduces students to the systematic collection, presentation and analysis of data, and to the principles of probability that allow us to reason about uncertainty. The subject sits between mathematics and the applied sciences, combining formal reasoning with practical interpretation.

The PU Statistics course combines a theory component with a practical component. Theory covers descriptive statistics, probability, probability distributions, correlation and regression, sampling and the basics of statistical inference. The practical component trains students to organise data, compute summary measures and interpret results using prescribed methods and tools.
